Animated World of DC Comics: Return of Atlantis (1980)

Now, we all know that Aquaman calls Atlantis home, or at least he did, until the current comics incarnation. But what happens when the Sea King finds ancient Atlantis rising to the surface rather unexpectedly? Trouble. Wonder Woman and Rima, the latter making her first Super Friends appearance in 3 years, and what would be her last one, try to help, but, as you'll see, it's a little complicated.

Seems they were big on female warriors on either side of the moral fence back then. I know Thundarr had his share of issues with them.......

Rating: B.

I remember enjoying this ep as a kid!

I think it was about seeing "girl power" and Diana's Amazon mother and sisters joining in the battle against the women of Atlantis.

I find it odd however the other Superfriends were MIA considering how close the warrior women of Atlantis nearly took over! Maybe it was due to the "guys shouldn't hit girls" rule?

For all intents & purposes, yeah. Aquaman was the only male member of the team to appear in this story.

Back then, it was simply a case of writers scrambling to find fresh ideas, hamstrung as they were by the time constraints per episode. Rewritten today, this would be worth 2-3 episodes, don't you think?

It was Super Friends. There was a "nobody hits nobody" deal. You could, however, murder people with the Noxium crystal. :D

I'm just begging someone at WB to use those old scripts, rebooted to reflect modern sensibilities, of course, so that they MAKE SENSE!
