Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits: Love Song of the Universe (1972)

"Love Song of the Universe" was likely the last chance for a single to crack the top 40 for Josie & The Pussycats. It was included in at least a couple of episodes of the 1972 Josie & The Pussycats in Outer Space series. As you'll see, the quality of animation took a turn downward, as this was partially (if not entirely) produced in Australia.

Ah, Josie in Outer Space. What was it about cartoons that they either got tossed into space or turned into kids? Still, when Warner Archive out this out on DVD I had to buy it. Of course, that's been my excuse for most of them. :)

You are a better man than I, sir.

I do have designs on getting certain other series (anything Super Friends related would be a start), but it's just a matter of availability.

To think that the whole Josie in Outer Space format was retooled for the Happy Days crew 8 years later......

This was one of my favorite Pussycat tunes.. after "Stop, Look & Listen" from the first season.

Despite being a pill, Alexandra is actually gaining a newfound respect from me! She reminds you of one of those no-nonsense "cut the crap" types who doesn't like it when people beat around the bush!
I always had trouble enjoying the outer space episodes though - in part due to the poorer animation, and partly sue to the sorry storylines.

In this series, Alexandra was less of the Dick Dastardly type, and more like a part of the band. Consider when she, Alan, & Alex all had to pitch in to help in one episode.

Of course, it helps that actress Sherry Alberoni had been a Mouseketeer before this, and thus had the necessary training to pull this off.......
