Looney TV: Hare Brush (1955)

For once, Elmer Fudd gets the best of Bugs Bunny. How? By going nuts, that's how. Scope out "Hare Brush", from 1955.

Sounds like Elmer's making with a tax dodge and sticking Bugs with the rap. Oh, the irony.

Rating: A.

There always seemed to be a dispute as to whether or not Elmer pretended to be nuts to get back at Bugs, but I've always felt that Fudd really did lose it and just by coincidence got the vengeance he desperately sought.

Of course the toon also gave me an early dislike for the IRS, and considering recent news events, it's not unwarranted.

That was the context of the story, that Elmer, after all the years of frustration, completely went cuckoo, or so it would seem, as he let the audience in on his secret at the end of the toon.

The IRS is always played as a villain, but it shouldn't have to be that way. Currently, it's just a case of some bad eggs with agendas getting the agency in trouble.
