And now, an important message from Batman (1966)

If it wasn't for the fact that episodes of the 1966-8 Batman series were not available on YouTube now, we would be doing our part to mark the series' 50th anniversary this year.

Luckily, the National Archives has a channel on YouTube, from which we find this long lost PSA featuring the Caped Crusader (Adam West) discussing US Savings Bonds.

I wonder if this is on any of the Bat-DVD collections........

I don't think it is, but I'll have to check sometime. Thanks for finding this.

You'd think WB would've found this and found a way to include it.

From what I've read on the fan sites, some Batman '66 fans volunteered their services to help WB in finding bonus material and checking the video for any errors as soon as it was known that it was being prepared for DVD and Blu-ray release, but WB turned them down. The fanbase seems to be of the opinion that the special features WB did provide are lackluster (I agree) and WB initiated a disc replacement program to fix some errors in the video (2 disks had to be replaced in the set, and it could have been avoided if the fans had been allowed some input). But since any release of this last big Holy Grail title on disc is cause for celebration, nobody complained too loudly. Batman never would have seen the light of day on physical media at all if not for the perseverance of a few fans who essentially forced Fox to come to an agreement with WB. It's a fascinating story, I found it on Wired here: http://www.wired.com/2014/11/batman-home-video-finally
